Logbook

This comprises a series of information sheets beginning with a clear explanation of how and why buildings are listed, how to get a copy of your own homes listing, the difference between the various grades etc. This is followed by a brief description of houses through the ages from the 11th and 12th century through to the start of the 20th century, an explanation about house construction through this same period and a check list of maintenance tasks.

A practical guide to the law of listed buildings explains what is listed, which work requires Listed Building Consent, how to apply for LBC, how to appeal against a refusal, details of Enforcement Notices etc.

Most importantly it includes a copy of the guide lines that conservation officers use when considering applications for LBC, and a clear description of the VAT implications of work to a listed building,

Further sheets comprise mainly practical information about window and door replacement, the use of lime and lime mortar with particular reference to damp problems, repointing of brickwork, cleaning of stone, brickwork and timber etc.
