Listed Maintenance Grants

The Listed Property Owners’ Club are proud to announce the Listed Maintenance Grants scheme (LMG). This is a proposal to provide VAT relief on all maintenance and repair work to listed buildings for the first time in British history, offering support to around 80,000 owners per year.

Even under the 2012 VAT regime, where some works were zero rated, there has never been any broad support to the average listed building owner. The LMG scheme aims to correct this, and help all owners keep their buildings properly maintained. Instead of a small number of owners getting occasional VAT relief; all owners will get public support to help protect their building.

Listed Maintenance Grants is a grant scheme, in line with the Treasury’s requests, and aimed specifically at the small and common works which increase the cost of ownership so much. At a total public cost of £52mil, it is a scheme that gives huge value for money and will make a huge contribution to protecting our built heritage.
