HAVE YOUR SAY AND SIGN
THE PETITION FOR VAT REFORM
The Listed Property Owners’ Club is stepping up its campaign for a reduction in VAT to 5% for repairs and approved alterations to listed buildings and we need your help. We have launched a national petition to call for VAT reform in order to show politicians the strength of feeling on this issue.
There are more than 1.5 million owners of listed properties and united we can speak with a loud voice that politicians cannot afford to ignore. The more people who sign the petition, the more impact this will have. If we get 10,000 signatures the Government must respond but we are aiming higher. Our aim is to reach 100,000 signatures which may secure us a debate in Parliament
You can sign the petition here.

ABOUT OUR POLITICAL CAMPAIGN FOR OWNERS
The campaign has now reached a six-year milestone, and during those years, we have been tirelessly lobbying MPs and Ministers for changes to benefit you as listed building owners.

ABOUT OUR POLITICAL
CAMPAIGN FOR OWNERS
As listed property owners we cherish thousands of historic homes that help create the character of our country. But we have suffered as politicians took that valuable role for granted and now owning a listed property is becoming a burden and a worry. The single biggest blow came when the Treasury took away the zero rate of VAT on all authorised works.
At LPOC we realised that while there were organisations representing major landowners and the guardians of historic homes no one was speaking up for the owners of ordinary listed properties. We launched the Political Campaign for Owners to give you a powerful voice at Westminster and beyond.
Thanks to our work there is now an All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Listed Properties backed by more than 50 parliamentarians. LPOC acts as the Group’s Secretariat and works with the MPs to lobby for a 5% VAT rate for repairs and approved alterations as well as reform of our complex and inconsistent planning regime.
We have now ramped up our campaigning and have launched a national petition to call for a 5% VAT rate. It is an opportunity to say to Ministers that the voices of 1.5 million listed property owners can no longer be ignored.
ABOUT THE APPG

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Listed Properties was created through the campaigning work of the Club. Realising we needed a strong voice in Parliament speaking up for listed property owners we worked with sympathetic MPs from all parties to help establish the Group. Craig Mackinlay, the MP for South Thanet chairs the Group.
The APPG’s mission is speak up for listed properties in the UK and raise awareness in Parliament of the role played by their owners in protecting the nation’s heritage; to advocate policies that support owners in preserving listed properties including tax and planning reform.
Now the Club acts as its Secretariat, providing the MPs with evidence of the challenges of owning a listed property, organising meetings and opportunities for owners to meet MPs and Ministers and put the case for reform. A recent highlight was a meeting with Heritage Minister Michael Ellis during which members outlined the costs and concerns created by the planning postcode lottery.

I am delighted that the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) is working with LPOC in campaigning for vital reforms that will help listed property owners. The APPG on Listed Properties has already won strong support from across all parties and it will provide a powerful voice in Parliament, raising the challenges listed property owners face and pressing for necessary reforms.
